Re: [RC] coggins - customary - Truman PrevattIn reality there is no way for the readers to be expensive now. Most companies use "keycard" type badges. These badges contain and RFID chip and the reader reads the chip. Then the chip id and input PIN are matched in the database to the person who the badge belongs and if it is correct entry is allowed. There are 10's of thousands of these systems around. It is the same technology except the reader is mounted on a wall and connected to a computer. The cost for a hand held reader is a ripoff.Truman Sisu West Ranch wrote: Hopefully I will not start the "flame war". This difficulty of horse ID is a good reason for the national animal identification system. See the article in the most recent AHA magazine. about the adoption of a chip, standards etc. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
