I have been told a good thing to do is check their race records for clues!:-) A friend of mine has a pretty,friendly 3 yr old Stdbrd. for sale. :-) Chrystal
I'd suggest you consider a Standardbred. They come off the track broke to drive and looking for adoptive homes. The ones I know have amazing temperments. They're easy to work with and have really been there/done that in terms of handling. They can do endurance, driving and dressage. Just look for one that trotted at the track, not paced.
