Re: [RC] GSFTR - rides2far@xxxxxxxxI have a REAL hard time thinking that anyone from our sport gave him the cold shoulder. I have a real hard time handling the syrupy "Cowboy to the core" on a guy with bad wannabe biker tattoos, his shirt tail out in the photos, and a pony tail... I'm betting he'd get far more cold shoulders at the local branding. Those probably weren't even Wranglers! >rolling of eyes< We had a guy around here who was in to Hang Gliding, Bungee Jumping, etc. etc. He needed lots of attention when he went anywhere so he showed up at his first endurance ride in an "Adventure Man" superhero outfit complete with wings on his shoes. Everyone was nice to him, and pretty much ignored the outrageous outfit since it wasn't *that* different from what we wore. Once he got over the need to be the center of attention he was OK. I'm guessing this guy's the same. He goes for that "renegade" look for shock value but we're not easy to shock since we allow anything and everything. If he wants to show up and do Tevis in jeans more power to him but he needs to get over the "Wild & Crazy Guy" thing. If he wants to stand out he needs to do dressage or something. Send him south and put him between Bud Davison in his mechanic's shirt and jeans and Jim Barnett in his overalls & work boots and see how big of a deal his outfit is. g< Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
