Just wanted to publicly thank all those caring
souls that helped and assisted me when I made an unplanned dismount at the
Cracked Oaats endurance ride in Sept. And apologize to those that I may have
dampened the joy of such a beautiful ride.
There were many I actually couldn't see, since I
was staring at the dirt.., but I heard your encouraging voices...
Thanks to Molly Krumlaw-Smith, for always
thinking ahead and having the EMTs right there in camp. No doubt, next
years T shirt will sport an even more interesting cartoon...
Thanks to Patricia Parker for her encouraging
words, professional advice, and the strength to finally lift me off my
face... <g>
Thanks to who ever brought blankets to warm me
while we waited for the ambulance.
And, of course a thank you to my
dear and patient friend, Mary Lynn Stockdale, who seems to always be there when
I hit the dirt.
She had to forgo, a warm sleep in, a good
breakfast, sit in the emergency room, listen to my complaints, answer questions,
all the while in her muck boots, and missing underwear... A sacrifice that will
be hard to repay!! <g>
Not to mention, caring for my horse, loading
everything up, hauling the rig home, unpacking
etc..............whew!!!!!!!!!!!!
The hospital in Chillicothe was the best!
Everyone was kind and gentle, I lucked up and had a top notch orthodontic
surgeon, who put me back together. My only complaint would be that he was sure
he could fix my dislocated shoulder before drugs....nope!!!
Present: I'm feeling better everyday. Even
typing with both hands, sorta...All the get-well cards have been a real lift to
the spirits.
I've had lots of time to think over 'what happened'
to my horse's brain to cause him to bolt and buck. Still haven't figured
it out.... He looks at me now with the question, "Where have you
been?"
I know one thing, I must stop riding in
September! My guardian angel seems to be on vacation that
month...
Again, thanks to all those kind thoughts and
prayers, they really do help.
