[RC] New ride MOONBEAM - Roger RittenhouseI have a new ride... not a horse but MOONBEAN (MOON) A paso-molly MULE Red dun 5yr old. She does not gait. We ( Carol/Dixie and I) went to meet the owner at a campground in Townsend TN. We went up on Fri. Moon showed up Sat am. A bit green but goes great. No real problems that I cannot manage. Test rode her in the Smokey Mtn on Sat. Did some ground work. Owner rode her around and I rode. We then set out to ride up the trail head of School House Gap. Rode about 2 miles on top. Had to cut it short because the owner needed to get back. Moon went great, easy and soft for the most part. Nothing much bothered her. She pulled the hills like a pro. Walk and trot over rocks no problem. NO TRIP. Strong 3.5 mph walk and a easy 7 mph trot. Great HR for a greenie. Not bothered by other horses on the trail. Did about a 2 hr test ride. She was trained using Brad Cameron methods. Attended a clinic in Nov 06. She is not push button or dead broke but she will work for me. Goes in a snaffle. We may have to use another bit for awhile. She can be strong but will yield. We worked today doing ground work and fitting a bridle and halter to her. BIG head. But she still looks nice to me :) Will go for a ride tomorrow with her mule friend Dixie PICTURES HERE http://imageevent.com/vmaxept/horses/moonbeam She is a very nice looking mule :) While she did OK in my SYNERGIST saddle, I will have to get a new saddle or get my SR ENDURO reworked to fit. So now a new adventure in my life is beginning. There is more to life then AERC/Endurance. I will find that. I do not plan on asking her to do endurance. We will just camp and pleasure ride. MANY places to ride up here (BSF-EFS) within TN and surrounding states. This will be fun. -- Roger Rittenhouse 76 Wolf Pen Creek Rd Pikeville TN 37367 888-216-6602 Fax 423-881-3691 Cell 615-557-7605 www.vmaxept.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
