Mine is biothane with a neoprene cushion where the three pieces meet in the front of the chest - got it from Teddy at Running Bear. While my saddle fits, my horse is 'girthy' and I ride with a pretty loose girth and when he gets to jumping around with me in the saddle that breast collar just keeps everything where it should be. The other reason I never ride without one is what the ladies I ride with call " defensive riding". I always have one hand gripping the top of the breast collar....has saved my seat numerous times when he has decided to hit the air brakes, also keeps my hands low.
