Hi Barbara,

A web bug is a tiny bit of graphics embedded in an email.  It is often 
called "invisible" because it can be only a 1x1 pixel in size, too small 
for you to pick out.  Here is a website that has all you ever wanted to 
know about web bugs.  Since this piece was written back in 1999, some of 
the references may or may not be out of date (I have no idea which) such as 
in the first one to Quicken's home page.

Some of the more important points are 1,2,6 and 11.

Since the web bug is in the email, deleting cookies will have no effect on it.
