Re: [RC] Suicide race - CTHAndreaI think the problem is the mass of horses. It is ran at night so visibility is bad. Spot lights may make it worse. Traditionally it was ran in daylight but they run at night to accomodate the rodeo. I spent alot of time reading different articles and could not find any that had a positive note. http://www.indiancountry.com/content.cfm?id=1094569204 http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB118678342614494614-SguOQluncV1arfdjhF2pULm4VbY_20070909.html?mod=tff_main_tff_top Perhaps they need to educate instead of alienate. The riders and horses are well trained. They have vet checks and run drug free in horses and riders. One article states 17 out of 300 horses in 15 years has died (as of 2004) That is just over 5%. All horse sports have their problems. This one has more then others because thousands of people pay to watch. The horses are usually injured in crashes or tripping. Very visual and public. I doubt these horses are terrified. It would be pretty hard to get a terrified horse to do it more then once. If you want more information just Google and start reading. Getting FLAMED is not so bad You should read some of the emails I got after I wrote a positive PMU article....
