Re: [RC] Making a difference (was: AERC joining, etc.) - Truman PrevattActually I think you are right Kat. One also has to separate the issues of supporting endurance riding with supporting the AERC - they are NOT the same. Even if I decided to not rejoin, I would still join and support local and regional organizations and support rides and ride managers. Another words I have no issues with endurance riding. I actually have no issues with the directions the present and past AERC presidents been trying to move the AERC over the last three years. I feel Mike and Stagg before him have done a good job.Like it or not being on any BOD is a political job. Like any political job a director will often find themselves in a fishbowl - and be "held accountable" by members they may not personally agree with. That's part of the job. That just goes with the territory. If one thinks this is a new phenomenon - recall Harry Truman's statement, "If it's too hot in the kitchen - then get out." He was not referring to baking a pie ;-) . The statement: "Bottom line, if you don't like it, live with it, don't do it, or get involved! But don't berate those who are volunteering their time to make a difference!" brings back shades of the 60's and early 70's to the classic "Love it or Leave it" in referring to the Vietnam war protest. Not only a pretty narrow view but also fairly non-productive. Truman k s swigart wrote:
