 Sometimes assistance is not so readily available.  Many years ago I became 
homeless with 2 small children, working a part time job for minimum wage - 
noit enough income do do much more than buy food.   Went to the state for 
help, we needed a roof over our heads!   
  "We can't help you because you have no housing expenses.  Get yourself some 
housing expenses, then you'll be eligible for AFDC, food stamps, and 
Medicaid."   
  See, if I'd known what lies they wanted to see on the forms I filled out, 
I'd have have had some of that "readily available" help.  But I didn't know 
it was possible to be TOO POOR to qualify.
