a small point, but my comment was simply that it was ill advised for  
AERC to sanction an event with "Race" in it's name (for the reasons  
outlined)

There may have been other reasons not to have sanctioned this event,  
but these were not what I was directing my comment toward.

(p.s. you might also remember that there was a very nice, and  
significant, prize (a beautiful custom Annie George saddle) presented  
to the winner of the 2001XP.)
