IMO weight divisions have been a "divisive" issue in AERC for as long as 
we've had them. ;^>

Truman's suggestion of requiring a minimum weight carried would require 
eliminating weight divisions from the NC completely.  Most of us working 
for recognizing the overall first-to-finish as the AERC National 
Champion aren't asking for the weight division competition to be 
eliminated.  Having a single, overall National Champion along with 
Weight Division winners would seem to me to be a good compromise.

In the interest of full disclosure, I will point out that I personally 
would rather see no weight divisions at all in the AERC (or at least not 
so damn many of them), but that's another question.  As long as we have 
them I have no problem with the NC having them, as long as they are not 
at the expense of having an overall Champion.
