[RC] Should I buy this horse? - Donna O'GaraShould I buy this horse? 10 pictures here: http://shady-acres.com/foxtrotter/ She's a Missouri Foxtrotter, and I probably won't want to do endurance with her, just casual trail riding. I have two concerns and I'd rather have someone warn me before it's too late if I'm getting into something I will regret. She was well cared for her first two yesrs, then she found herself in a bad situation with the people caring for her only feeding her when they remembered. After an extended time, possibly a year or more of serious malnutrition, she went back to her original owners where she was gradually fattened up. Her owner claims her vet says she should have no problems. She's now 6 or 7 and seems healthy and happy. My other concern is her prominent backbone. Even though she's not thin her spine sticks up. It doesn't seem to interfere with the two saddles I've seen on her, but I'd suppose a treeless one would be a problem. I've seen several of her relatives and many of them have similar backbones but none as extreme. Her hindquarters seem considerably higher than her withers. It didn't occur to me to measure that. She's very small, just a bit over 14 hands. I'm really quite fond of this little mare, so I hope nobody talks me out of getting her. Thanks for taking a look and letting me know what you think.
