RE: [RC] [RC] Bitless Bridles - negative experience.. - Chris PausI can tell you that I used a bitless bridle for short time on my horse. It was a disaster. He ran right through it. He's an experienced endurance/ctr horse. the bitless bridles are no less "cruel" than bitted bridles. They simply put pressure somewhere else, namely on the poll and cheek bones. I had to have my horse adjusted chiropractically after a ride. the pressure on his poll really messed up his neck. No thanks. Back to a snaffle bit and fingertip control. I did use it to "start" my young mare. It worked great for awhile when I was just teaching her the rudimentary stuff. But once we got going and I switched her over to a bit, I realized it was like driving a sports car vs steering a barge with the bitless. and yes, she works off my legs and seat well.
