Re: [RC] Reality bites - Truman PrevattYou just beg for me to play the advocate for old Lucifer himself so I can't help myself. Was it okay for the Donner party to feast upon themselves - even if they had to do that to survive? We are extremely lucky to live in a rich country during a peaceful time. Such times and places are rare in the history of the human race. But we do live in those times. Boy I love these conversations because they provide such a slight incline that leads to such steep slippery slopes ;-) . I think the issue we are facing - be it zoos not accepting horse meat to the state of Ill closing its only slaughter house is we might just be out of tune with the rest of the population on this issue - damn I hate it when that happens. It seems clear to me that the bulk of the population does not feel horse slaughter to feed people is socially acceptable. Be that right or wrong in our democratic system - it is the will of the people that eventually peculates into law. If people feel differently - it is their elected officials (state and federal) that can make a change. Truman -- “It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart you are. If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong” Richard Feynman, Nobel Laureate in Physics =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
