FW: [RC] Horse sense and common sense - hard to find... - Mike SherrellA list of widespread bad advice would be amusing. The only thing I can remember off the top of my head is all the people that were recommending rich feed. I even heard secondhand about one stable owner that only fed alfalfa pellets because it kept the poop to a minimum. Common sense is not common, and the vast majority of people around horses do NOT have horse sense! Something you'll hear Parelli say is "You want to be good with horses? Look at what other so-called horse people are doing, and do the opposite". As a new horse owner just over a decade ago, much of the supposed good advice I got were things that I would NOT do to my horses now that I know better (and I know better mostly from learning the techniques and philosophies of great horsemen and women who have put all their horse sense in a teachable format).
