If they dry out, then you just have drop them in water and the first couple of times you bring them up, squeeze the water into the sponge to soak it.  Yeah, kind of a pain.  Guess that's one good thing about the humidity here...the sponges practically soak enough moisture out of the air to stay wet!  <TIC>
