Re: [RC] Narrow trails at Tevis - Barbara McCraryMy B-I-L is an absolute expert with machinery of all kinds...bulldozers, et al. He has built trail in terrain that would make most people cringe. He has also built trails where there was solid rock...he just kept chipping away at it with the backhoe. I don't think there is anyone who could beat him at this job.My husband and I build trails with hand tools only, as we don't have a trail machine. Our trails tend to be narrow, about 2 feet wide, but are usually on safer terrain. The Dingos are not very powerful. The pros I know, like the pictured Mike Riter (who gave the trail construction seminar at the recent SETC conference), say they are very much finesse machines and it takes some time to learn how to operate them to get useful results (as opposed to just churning up the dirt). =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
