Re: [RC] Narrow trails at Tevis - Linda Marins----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara McCrary" <bigcreekranch@xxxxxxxxxxxx> My B-I-L's trail machine is ridden and operated from the seat. It is, I think, a Kubota that he re-designed for his use. I also think it could outwork the Dingo by far. Yes. The Dingos are not very powerful. The pros I know, like the pictured Mike Riter (who gave the trail construction seminar at the recent SETC conference), say they are very much finesse machines and it takes some time to learn how to operate them to get useful results (as opposed to just churning up the dirt). Their main virtues are their very small size so that they can go where many other machines can't; their lightness distributed across the treads which gives them a small per-square-inch weight that doesn't compact the ground as much (land managers like this), and the fact that one stands behind them. People like being able to "just let go" when the machine starts to roll down a hill instead of having to jump off.
