RE: [RC] Tevis winners - heidiActually, women do edge the men in endurance (speaking not of the sport here, but of the word in its truest sense), even though men have more strength. Women do extraordinarily well in ultramarathoning, for instance, and also edge the men in being able to bear up to adverse circumstances such as heat and cold. Keep in mind that biologically, the males of the species are the hunters and the conquerors, but the females are the ones who have to survive not only to bear the young but to feed them and ensure their survival. The male's genes will pass on as long as he makes it to the female first--but none of the genes will pass on if the female does not survive.
