RE: [RC] [RC] geldiing an an older stallion-question for Angie and others - Amber B FortI gelded a 9 year old Stallion that had bred several mares throughout his studhood, in November 2006. Let me tell you, it was a major attitude adjustment. While this boy was well mannered, he was mouthy if you weren't paying attention to him on the ground. That completely got removed along with his brain surgery. Now it has been 9 months and he is gelding acting in most areas, however he will breed a willing mare. His new owner just put him in with her long yearling and they get along great. He was very social before he left so this came as no surpise to me. I think you have to treat them all as individuals. I don't know if the one I gelded at 9 will ever give up or forget about the ladies...should they be willing.;) Amber & David Fort
