Re: [RC] Horse Death After Big Horn 100 Attempt - rides2farFrank asked: But, after reading the> account/the chronology of the rapid declining of the horse's health, I> discover that I have to ask the following questions: *Did the horse have a> vet check after the rider opted to pull him due to lameness? If so, was> there anything remarkable about his metabolic condition? *That's it...no> big shakes, just would like to know the answer to the two questions.....and,> thank you.> ** I'll add another question to that. What kind of day did the horse have *after* it was pulled. Where was it in the hours following the pull. Where were its caretakers? What kind of care and observation did it get? We are the ones who know the horse and we are the ones who should be observing it like a hawk after a ride. Especially a *fast* ride. According to the rider, the 100's & 50's started together, and she came in at the 50 mark with Alyx, who won the 50, and according to the rider: snip< Our goal was to ride out in the front with people who knew the trail, getting lost or staying out for 24 hours was not on the goal list.. snip< Also she states: snip< his second ride with us, the Big Horn 100 a ride Ive always dreamed of doing and was thrilled to get to start on such a promising horse; my only regret was that if he finished or at least passed the fifty mile marker strong he was sold. snip< So, I suppose the horse was "already sold" when pulled at 71 miles?
