RE: [RC] Gaited 1/2 Arabs - Katrina MosshammerJust my personal experience, but my old Anglo gelding had the most GAWD-AWFUL trot! I could not stand, sit or post his trot at all. However, he did have the most wonderful "rocking horse" lope. I did several 100's on him and we would only trot about 5 miles of it, walked or loped the rest. Now my new mare, Hungarian/Arab/Shagya, has a wonderful trot. We are still working on her slow lope. She's good for a few strides but doesn't keep it up for very long. She definitely prefers to trot. Her slow trot kills my knees, because it is mostly up and down motion with very little forward motion, but her extended trot and flying trot I could ride for days! JMHO, Katrina Quoting kp ross <mamaross@xxxxxxxxx>: Sharon . . . Do you think that Arab / Foxtrotter crosses would tend to have a smoother trot . . . Just curious because in my experience the Thoroughbred in the Anglo Arabs makes a smoother trotting horse . . . . . . Oh and yes, I am looking into purchasing this cross . . . go figure . . .
