There is a Yahoo group for insulin resistance/cushings syndrome.  I have a morgan mare that is insulin resistant, she also has laminitis.  I've had great results with keeping her on a grass hay, low carb diet plus using a natural trim with frequent trimming for her hooves. With laminitis it's very important to not let the hooves grow long at all. Also Keeping their weight down is really important and exercise.
