Re: [RC] [RC] Ride temper - training? - Dawn CarrieHe needs to "see Jesus" the next time he threatens another horse! Otherwise, the threatening, "scary" behavior could very likely progress to actually kicking another horse (or missing the horse and getting the rider). If it were me, the next time he even started to initiate the behavior, I would snarl a loud "QUIT!!" in my nastiest voice, and at the same time smack him hard on the neck with my hand, kick him, smack him hard with a crop, or otherwise make a serious impression on him. And I'd do it every time he tried it. Make your action very memorable for him...he needs to learn in no uncertain terms that when he's working (and that includes being lead in a halter) he is not to threaten other horses. I don't even allow my horses to lay ears back at another horse...they get a sharp "HEY, QUIT!" if they do...if they don't respond instantly, they get another verbal accompanied by a smack on the neck...they seldom need the second reprimand. They know that Mom means business and won't tolerate nastiness. <G>
