[RC] OLD DOMINION!! - rides2farYes Angie...your whining. Stop that whining !!!! OK, why am I worried? Those of you who have done OD...Judy...tell me about what Jody calls the "Shark's Fins" rocks that are 1/2 buried and standing up out of the ground. Sounds a whole lot like a patch we have here on Pigeon Mtn. but ours is only 20 yards or so...and it's still not fun. Do horses that train on this trail at speed just levitate?...learn to pick their way through while still making time?? What about the long SLOW rocky ridge that we do twice, once in each direction. How do you pace that? Do you just close your eyes and say "Trot on!"? Sounds like there could have been more road but it's trail (which tends to be harder to make time especially with shark fins) Why worry?? :-P Also, there is only one hold before 53 miles. Word is there's not a lot to offer them to eat on the trail. For those who like to "replenish electrolytes naturally" doesn't sound .like this is your ride. Do you carry food along for them? (we will be dosing electrolytes, believe me!) How's about places to get the horse's temp down. Water crossings?
