Re: [RC] How Did You Find Your Soul [Endurance] Horse ? - steelsidedownThanks for a great topic! So far, I've figured the best way to find an endurance horse is to tell eveyone you're looking and sit back and wait! The horses that suited me best were all the result of a friend calling "he/she would be perfect for you". Now, I'm not saying they have every been the right age, color, height, conformation, size, sex -- and they usually come in the not broke to half broke variety. But, I enjoyed each one and learned to overlook their faults. Thus proving to myself you don't need an overwhelming athlete for endurance, just a horse that enjoys zooming down the trail ... and a team of great friends to keep an eye out for ya! And no, I'm not looking now! Jen ---- "Beverley H. Will change from windows to barns when I finish the book I'm writing.) How did you connect with your current or best-all-time endurance horse? Internet, word of mouth, ads on feed store walls, etc? How did you know s/he was the right horse for you? Did you make a list of what you wanted and stick to it? (Yesterday I met someone who didn't want a mare or a chestnut or anything over 15 hh, but ended up w/ a 15.3 chestnut mare whom she adores x 9y) Did you get a seasoned horse or put the miles on h/h yourself? What kind of evaluation did you get besides a pre-purchase vet exam? Did you get, like, a 30-day free home trial? Mistakes to avoid?? Other advice and warnings?? Thanks.
