Re: [RC] Sued for speed - Kristi SchaafKat wrote: Personally, if I were a park ranger of a park that had lots of pleasure trail hikers and riders, I wouldn't allow an endurance ride to be held there (I wouldn't allow a bike race to be held there either), unless it were such a big park that the two sets of users were unlikely to be constantly encountering each other (e.g. I could, in essence, close some of the trails to the general public without generating complaint). _________________ Kat, you nailed our park manager's philosophy on the head. He told me that he would allow an AERC ride in the same section where he's allowed bike races - only problem is that it's a 7 mile loop so not long enough for our use. I don't blame him one bit - the park (in Iowa, since so many people have emailed me asking where) is getting VERY popular now that there is a reservation system in place and approximately 250 horse camp sites, most of them electric. Even though there's 40+ miles of trail, the use is getting heavy enough that we may eventually run into problems even with the NATRC ride that we hold there every year (it's been held there for many years and since the pace is slower than AERC hasn't caused any real speed vs putzers type conflicts that I envision could/would happen with an AERC ride). Kristi Life's a journey, so enjoy the ride (and try not to fall off) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
