RE: [RC] Rule change, who is it for? - heidiI am not convinced that this is really going to improve the welfare of the horse. They will just be able to leave earlier. How can they leave any earlier than they do now? They currently can present at any time within the hour, including one second after crossing the finish line, if their horses meet the criteria. And while there are certainly other parameters that are of concern, they don't complete NOW until their pulses are down to the criterion for that ride. The rule change won't make their pulses come down any faster! I agree that I hate to see rigs pulling out with tired horses in them. I also have to admit that I am sometimes one of those riders, thanks to having to be home to work on Sunday. (Still, we do try to stick around for a few hours post ride.) But I fail to see how this rule change would enable anyone to leave any sooner than they already do??
