Re: [RC] 10 minute mile - Barbara McCraryOn a treadmill, I can walk 4 mph, if I really try hard, but 3.5 mph is more nearly a normal fast walk for me. And I consider that I walk fairly fast. If I walk 2 mph, I almost lose my balance. Most of my motions are generally fast, so much so that I occasionally bump into door jambs, etc. I cannot believe that any human can walk (flat-footed, not a running walk) 10 mph. Or are we talking about horses walking 10 mph? Even that is hard to believe.Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Truman Prevatt" <tprevatt@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <heidi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: "k s swigart" <katswig@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, January 09, 2007 8:15 AM Subject: Re: [RC] 10 minute mile A 10 minute mile is six miles an hour. Thats a pretty good clip at a walk. I suspect most horses average about 2 to 4 mph at the walk and most humans are closer to 2 than to 4. At six mph I would expect most trotting horses would jog or trot. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
