RE: [RC] re: international rule change - Bob MorrisYes Truman leadership is the all controlling factor. I posted twice; First on April 27th where I stated: "An additional line of action to be considered, and one I would strongly investigate, would be for the AERC to assert their position as the controlling discipline entity, formulate a position that puts forth the philosophy of the AERC in a very strong manner and place this control in the hands of the AERC Membership. This would be difficult, but not an impossibility, to accomplish. It would require some very strong posturing and firm pronouncements, but could be done. But, do we have the leadership. I am not speaking of the Board of Directors, I and speaking of the Membership!" And again on April 30 where-in I said: "If the AERC (note I did not say AERC-I) believes that continued international association is worth while, then the AERC must become a strong leader. We must purge the USEF/FEI followers and install some AERC Leaders. We must truly become the entity responsible for the discipline of endurance in the USA. We have the designation, when will it become fact? Is there any one who cares enough and has the cojones to assert that we are the leader and will be the leader? Even more important, will the AERC Board of Directors support such a person?" One comment was made on these and by a Board Member. Since it has been well over a week since posting, and no comments, I would say those doing the bitching just need to bitch and are not willing to step up and act. Rhetoric is great and formulated concepts, but actions accomplish what needs to be done. With out such action we remain the same, a second rate organization. I posted the challenge, is every one complacent and satisfied? We see the fruits for their labor - from a 13:20 COC time (7.46 mph) to a 10:40 COC time (9.32 mph) in the span of two years! Their leadership in this issue is just amazing - I amazed how poorly it has performed. As the old Chicago song laments, "...America needs you, Harry Truman...." It seems our organizational leadership would rather embrace the status quo - even if it is flat out the wrong thing to do than to make a wave.
