I’ve seen the wide web steel shoes used mostly. The
wide web gives a little more protection. My friend’s farrier accidentally
put on a set of aluminum shoes and they actually wore completely through after
about 4 weeks, on a day she’d been riding in rocks, but they had looked
good to start with that day.
