Re: [RC] naturl horse wormers - Sisu West Ranch"....was being wormed with chewing tobacco instead ..."This is a classic example of the bad effects of chemophobia or just because it is natural doesn't mean it is harmless. Tobacco was used for worming for many years. It contains nicotine. Now, I have no knowledge about whether nicotine is a good wormer, or if enough can be delivered by using tobacco or if the person who did this actually used the same amount that was typically used 120 years ago, but nicotine is an extremely toxic chemical! Yes, I said chemical, even though it is produced by a plant. In extremely small amounts, it raises blood pressure by constricting blood vessels, and stimulates nerves producing the high that addicts desire. In larger amounts it causes death of mammals and insects. My moral: Everything is a chemical. Some chemicals produced by plants or animals (the so called "natural" ones) are just as dangerous as anything humans have synthesized, but are sometimes less regulated and easier for misguided people to obtain.
