Kyle, the chance is pretty slim like you say. However, imagine the immense
headache if it did turn up positive? It's not as simple as just getting your $
back. There's the quarantine of your farm for however long (no going to rides,
or even trail riding). Also the risk that any of your other horses might get it
& then also have to be put down. This is handled by the government, not just
your local vet. So, sure the risk is very slim, but not really worth it.
Really. I think that's not a good reason to buy a horse if he's exactly
what you're looking for. If you really feel that way, make up a contract that
they will buy the horse back if he has the virus.
But think about it, what are the chances of this horse having the virus?
