[RC] abetta saddle - jeanmiller

I ride with the abetta trail saddle.  I got the more narrow tree, I suppose it is semi quarter horse bars.  It seems to fit all my arabs just fine.  I put a overall sheepskin on it so I don't mind the synthetic.  I am fairly well balanced in it, it does have a horn but then I have been a horn grabber for at least 40 years.  I have never not wanted a horn.  The most important thing is this.  You need a saddle that fits the horse and you.  If you have that, you are fine.  Doesn't matter what kind, or how heavy.  I went to the trail saddle cause I couldn't lift the ortho flex so easily anymore.  Since I don't plan on not riding, the trail saddle was it.  I have managed LDs back to back on a weekend with no back problems for the horse.  In fact the only problem I had last year was Maggie started coming up lame on her left front.  The problem?  me, my right ankle hurt so bad that I made her lame.  Once I paid attention to my ankle problem, Maggie remained sound. I might add that I use a cool back pad with the saddle and have the E-Z ride stirrups.  Knock on wood, we both are still on trail and varrrrooooooommmmmmiiiinnnnng around trees with juniors and parents in tow.  I wouldn't have it any other way.  Bring on the Ben and Jerrys.  Jeanie
