I like the double entendre since we are indeed where the fruits and nuts are grown. But we imported a lot of our more unusual folks, as a high school student in the 70s not far from SF, we all developed with well-rounded socialization. I wonder if it was SF Chron columnist Herb Caen that came up with the phrase? Meaning, it is far too cold to survive these living arrangements in that area. Whatever...my parents raised me on numerous "colloquialisms", one of which was, "Everyone is queer but me and thee, and sometimes I think thee a bit queer, too."
