Mel, I ride endurance now with a background of hunt/jump, polo, team penning 
& easy trail. I have always put weight in my stirrups. When I have tried EZ 
stirrups, I felt that my feet were trapped. I like to know that, if in a 
pickle I will easily lose the stirrup. I was not comfortable with that 
feeling at all. I've always ridden lots of green horses so maybe I have a 
bigger fear of not being 'detached' from my tack if I must get off (planned 
or unplanned).
