[RC] electrolytes and all advice - Tx TriggerI live at the end of the Tevis trail, and that is our training ground..big hills, heat, a regular 25 mile training ride for us would kill some of the folks who train on flat ground in 70 degrees. We had 85 degrees last Sunday! Soon, we will be riding the infamous "canyons" that everyone dreads on Tevis..just for a training ride! And this we will do in over 100 degree weather. Both directions. I love to start at Foresthill, ride up the Tevis trail to the Swinging Bridge, then turn around and come back.<<< Geezzz, who has flat ground and 70 degrees? LOL We have flat ground, but heat and humidity. The canyons are not bad to the Texas horses. (at least mine, and the friend who finished last year) We heard more whining from the CA riders about the canyons that what came out of our mouths! LOL After riding in heat and humidity to train, they are just not that bad!!! Even Truman would agree, I'm sure, And we rarely agree on anything. Right Truman <nudge-nudge> Yes folks, find what works for YOUR horse. And remember, that "can" change too. Consider conditions of the ride, time of the season and fitness level of the horse etc. Then listen to your horse during the ride, and hope you can understand what they are telling you.
