Re: [RC] Credit for 50 miles - Sisu West Ranch"...but I was told that RM's are allowed a 5% variation in mileage so that means a 50 can actually be 47.5 m..." As I read the rules an endurance ride is "at least 50 miles". I take this to mean that a 50 must be at least 50.00000000000 miles and can not be more than 52.5000000000 miles. If it is more than that it becomes sanctioned as a 55 mile ride. This means that a careful (read Anal Retentive) RM will carefully measure the ride and make sure of this. I guess I am a bit AR. The first place I had Sisu Sisu, the trails had been used many times as a 60 mile ride. I purchased a front wheel odometer for my bicycle, calibrated it on a straight section of surveyed road in WI and then measured the trail. Low and behold I got a bit less than 57.5 miles. I then put out a traffic cop, and had the riders go around a particular loop twice. This added enough miles to bring the ride up to just over 60 miles. I covered all of this at the ride meeting, and got no complaints.
