Re: [RC] [RC] horse slaughter vs vegitarianism - Sisu West Ranch"... >> Dogs are considered food in parts of Asia. How come nobody seems to bescreaming about that? There are many in the world who are fighting to stop this inhumane treatment of dogs..." Another example of cultural bias. Why is it humane to raise a chicken, pig, or cow for slaughter, but not a dog? The inhumanity would come if the dog were treated poorly while alive, or tortured to death. In 1805-6 the Corps. of Discovery (Lewis and Clark et al.) purchased many dogs from the Indians in the Pacific NW to eat. Dog was common fare among these tribes. They ended up preferring them to Elk meat. (Yes, these are same Indian tribes that are held in awe by many because they did not ruin the land like the white man. Also note that Lewis did not eat his dog, Sailor, even when he was very hungary) Ed Ed & Wendy Hauser 2994 Mittower Road Victor, MT 59875 (406) 642-9640 ranch(at)sisuwest(dot)us =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
