RE: [RC] slaughter vs consumption - heidi

I think most of us on this list have a good idea of what is "humane."  But it seems to me like you are using the word "ethical" in a pretty vague context.  Just what IS "ethical" in your mind?  To me, "ethical" would mean that I didn't rob or cheat anybody, that I acted honorably, and that I didn't allow my horse to suffer.  That is "humane" plus a little bit more.  I would define "unethical" as promoting "feel-good" legislation that in turn allows the horses to suffer--so I would personally class the political and emotional push to promote bad legislation as "unethical."  So, I'd like to hear your definition of "ethical" here, since you say that it IS ok to eat them...

Sure, there are folks unwilling to see horses "consumed" but they are the minority.  Most want horses treated humanely and ethically.
