Re: [RC] euthanasia - rides2farPut it in a trust that is administered by a 3rd party. We have a friend who has no heirs and after his parents died recently he made sure his will was in order. He mentioned to my husband in an offhand way, "Oh by the way, I willed you Cass and enough money to take care of her". Well...that's nice. I'm sure he willed her to Bill since he knows I never really cared for the old biddy. >eg< Actually, I take care of her now. He buys the feed but I take it to her every day. Heck, I even put my good winter blanket on her when they called for an ice storm and she had no shelter...and yes, she did threaten to bite me. Having to take care of her, should something happen to her owner might not be exactly something I'd have signed up to do, but I would do it. I sure wouldn't want the hassel of having to deal with a third party though..."Here's the receipts, will you reimburse me for this trimming and the hay...oh, you want to inspect the hay?" :-P Seems the third party could just as easily embezzle the money and leave me taking care of the horse out of my own pocket. I'd just say you really should know the person *well*. You can tell a tree by its fruit. Look at how that person conducts themselves in all areas of their life. Character is pretty easy to observe. Hmmm, maybe *that's* why he chose Bill. >g< Angie (who has had no fewer than 5 people tell me they were leaving me their horses...but two were going to include the trailers! :-) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
