Easy cheap fix.  Girth loop with ring for snap to breast collar.  Shoe lace, 
maybe punch.

If you have a "string" or mohair type girth, poke shoe lace thru girth next 
to center bar, slide loop to center, wrap lace over loop and back thru girth 
on other side of center bar, tie on outside.
If it's a solid type girth, punch holes, one on each side of center, repeat 
steps above.
If you use a cover, poke holes to match girth, slide loop over both, and put 
lace thru both layers, tie on outside.
Voila, smooth, non slip girth loop ready for breast collar snap.
