Re: [RC] EZ Knees for theis weekend ride - Mary Ann Spencer

I recently got some decent 'sports' pants at W Mart. Card on item said for bike riding. Nylon polyester spandex wears like iron. You put sweats over them when it is cold. U might try looking at bicycle supply catalogs. or....... even the women's section of stores where they sell athletic clothes.

Chuckle...

Yes, it is difficult for a man to ride comfortably in this sport when
there is such a slim selection of "riding enhancements" and other clothing
to assist in making the sport more comfortable.

I can't even find mens' breeches locally. So far, cycling shorts +
"Saddle Bums" seem to be the ticket. Oooh-la-la. High fashion there.
<blech...>

I'm also trying "Body Glide" this time to see if it can help with
chaffing. The sheepskin saddle cover that folks on this site recommended
has helped in training.

Last year I had gotten some new underwear to use at a ride. They were a
mans
sports type of underwear that was supposed to give...ummmmm ....support
for
those vital male areas. The goal was to prevent the chaffing/blistering
that
had been occuring in sensitive areas with regular briefs.

Well as often happens, I never got around to wearing them during
training,
but put them on just before the MidSummer Nights Madness. They seemed
fine,
so I went about getting ready for the ride. As it was over 100 degrees
at
the start of the ride,(Mid August in Oklahoma? Who would have guessed it
to
be that warm?) , I didn't want to warm up my horse excessively. I
walked
him around for a while, and then 3 minutes before the start hopped on
and
started to trot a bit. Much to my chagrin, the "family jewels" started
bouncing too. The thought of 50 miles of that was horrifying, so I
hurried
back to my trailer and swapped underwear. When they said "Trail open" I
was
just getting back in the saddle.

But Angie, I would never leave my shorts hanging on a tree limb. It
wasn't
me:)
