Re: [RC] Pulse criteria in NW region - Dot WigginsHere in the NW, so far as I know, -- I haven't been to all of them,--- a pulse of 60 at all vet checks within 30 min, and 30 min post ride for LDs, and 60 min for endurance. This has been usual for quite a few years, more than 6 or 7. I can't remember riding with a 64 since maybe sometime in the mid 90s I do remember 56 once or twice when it was really hot. I didn't think it made any difference in recovery time. It's been my experience that once a horse starts dropping from 68 they drop like a rock.I guess you can take almost any NW rides to study, we have everything from dry desert to heavy timber and all in between. ----- Original Message ----- Subject: Re: [RC] Progress I think Angie is right on. There isn't any quantitative data that I know of to justify a 60 pulse over a 64 pulse. There is also not data to justify making the finish time 30 minutes at the end instead of an hour. While these might make people feel good and some think "they might help" I don't see much of an issue with the current rules. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
