Re: [RC] re: land usage - rides2farWow. I hadn't thought of it before, but I can't imagine less than 50,000 to 100,000 acres. When I did the ride in Arizona it was really weird to me that you could ride a long way and *still* be in sight of camp. I would think it would take a LOT of barren or open land to have a ride. You wouldn't want to see horses going in every direction as you looked across the horizon. Around here you go 50 yards and you're completely out of sight of camp. You go up a ravine to find a place to cross a boulderfield where the water tumbles down the mountain, down, around, zig and zag just to get from here to there. Our mountains aren't tall, but when you get to the top it's not a big smooth panaramic view, there's steep ups and down rollercoaster hills. If you're moving the whole time and the scenery is always new it feels every bit as long, believe me! :-) I believe Pigeon Mtn. where we hold Longstreet's Charge is 35,000 acres. Is that better? g< Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
