Well Susan, it seems that despite the fact that we live in Europe our
spring time indicators are pretty much similar, may I add:
- instead of walking on the earth we now sink into it
- instead of cleaning the washing machine's filter once every month I now
need to get the horse hair out every day
- the birdies are back and crap all over our cars
- it's now definitely too late to plant those 1000 snowdrops I got in a
sale last september
- our roosters start singing at 5.30 in the morning
- I'm already behind in my training schedule, carefully worked out in
front of the fire over the past two months
- the sun is still low enough to shine into the house but strong enough now
to highlight all the dog snot on the doors, the filthy windows and the cobwebs,
not to mention the sand on the floor
and best of all... hunting season is almost over!! Two weeks to go..
I was thinking about things that
represent the coming of spring to me here in Montana. Here's a short
list:
* I hear the variegated thrush singing when I go out
to feed * It's lighter in the morning and evening when I
feed * When I come back in from feeding, I've got the usual
amount of hay on me and in my hair, but I'm starting to see more horse hair
mixed in with it * I've got a line on my pants that's at
about mid-shin. It's dirt and it just happens to line up perfectly with the
mud/dirt-encrusted running boards on my truck.
