Re: [RC] Tevis Discussion - Laney HumphreyI know more people who have completed Tevis, not by being "fast," but by being consistent, having great crews who could get them through the vet checks right on time, but who also are blessed with horses who can do it. I rode as far as Robinson this summer (I got sick, nothing wrong at all with my horse), with a friend who went on to complete. We started in the third pen so we were at the rear. Peggy knew that she had to be constantly moving forwards and she did. We didn't waste a minute! She finished with about 2 hours to spare as I remember. I know several other people who have finished using very similar game plans.Laney Suzanne Boyd wrote: Interesting question, I'd like to hear some opinions on this. I always enjoy hearing ride stories where someone has a game plan, sticks to it and finishes well. I believe Stagg Newman has done this many times, but not sure if he has ever done Tevis. I doubt if I will ever again ride a purely *fast* horse(getting too old for that crap!!), so am interested in learning more about different strategies. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
