Re: [RC] propane toxic--what about stoves? - Diane Trefethen

Hi Sir Firefighter,

Just to allay the fears of everyone on Ridecamp who has a "gas" furnace in the house or "gas" stove or refrigerator and just rushed to open all their windows [bg], could you give us some practical guidelines on the ratio between source of CO and the amount of space into which it disperses? Like, if you have a 1200 sq ft house, do you need to keep anything open if you have a gas stove with 5 pilot lights? How about a 900 sq ft house? Etc.

Many thanks!

Anytime you are using a range or oven whether it be natural gas or propane it needs to be vented. incomplete combustion produces Carbon Monoxide which is deadly.
