: Re: [RC] Bees get a bad rap?? - victoria thompsonAll our YJ's live under the eaves of our house, and we have come to a mutual understanding that as long as they leave us alone we'll leave them alone. Works like a charm. There were trade-offs on both sides to come to this agreement. We can no longer spray the roses to get rid of the aphids, and in exchange for leaving their ample food supply alone they can no longer build nests under the eaves along the front of the house or across the back of the house. They get the two sides, above the garage door and the eaves up on the roof (no they don't come into the attic, the real bees did that). Neither of us has been stung in the six years we've had this arrangement. I swear, not one YJ has ever tried to build a nest in those areas where we don't want them since we stopped spraying their nests with wasp spray and left the aphids for them. We'll be sitting outside and they'll come visit the plants around us, but never touch us or any food we have out on the table (we BBQ all the time). They don't bother the cat either. Even when she's snooping around in the roses.
